Frequently Asked Questions!
Organic produce is grown without the use of chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. Organic farmers use natural means to control insects and weeds. Natural fertilizers, such as compost, are used. After harvesting, organic farmers do not treat food with preservatives. Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations.
Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Our Organics to You suppliers farm with animals that range freely in wide open spaces and feed on an organic diet as far as possible. Where (entirely) organic feed is not possible, careful consideration is used as to what the animals feed on.
Organic food contains no preservatives. It also does not contain chemicals and artificial flavours. Most supermarket foods are chemically altered to enhance colour and preservation. Shorter shelf-life is a worthy sacrifice if you value your health!
Organic fruit and veg are grown natureās way with no help from chemicals and preservatives. Size and colour may therefore differ from time to time and leaves may have a few tiny holes. You may even find an innocent little creature hiding in your lettuce! You can however be sure that your body is benefitting greatly from these sometimes āimperfectā products.
The Gays Raw milk from Prince Albert is certified clean and indeed safe to use. Clean raw milk is scarce, and we feel privileged to be able to supply it. It is a staple in our family. When milk is pasteurised and homogenised it loses a great deal of its nutrients. That is why clean raw milk is most beneficial and healthy.
Organic Food is not as readily available as non-organic (mostly chemically altered) food. Farms are few, supplies are limited, and organic farming is often more challenging than commercial farming. Our suppliers put their products on their weekly lists but sometimes those products are, for various reasons, not available when we place our orders with them. That is just the reality. You will however mostly receive all or nearly all of what you have ordered. If possible, we will inform you in advance if products are not available. It is however not always possible.
Unfortunately, organic foods generally cost more than non-organic foods. This is due to the higher cost of organic farming and limited supplies. As more people use organic products, prices are likely to decrease. That is why we encourage our customers to use our āRefer and Earnā function on our website. Our aim is to make organic food affordable for most people who desire to maintain a healthy lifestyle. At Organics to You we are however constantly comparing our prices with upmarket supermarkets and try to keep our prices lower.
The general perception is that only wealthy families can afford to eat organic. Our aim is to make organic products available for most people, not just the affluent. For that reason, we are working hard for a small profit and the whole family chips in. This is how most of our prices are generally lower than other organic shops. The more people you refer to us, the better we can maintain this.
Orders always close on a Sunday at midnight and deliveries are always on Fridays. For example, orders will close on Sunday 7 August 00h00 and those orders are then delivered on Friday 12 August within your chosen time-slot. We do close for a week or two from time to time, mostly over the July and December school holidays. We will however inform you in advance.
Since many of our products are priced according to weight, we can only invoice once your order is packed on a Friday morning. You will receive a hard copy of your invoice with your order, as well as an electronic version on the day of delivery. Payment should be made as soon as you have received your order with your name as reference.
